INTRO SWIMIf your goal is to do self-swimming, you must first attend an introductory swim session. During this initial visit, Heidi will cover operation of the pool and systems, rules, and also evaluate your dog's ability to use the facilities safely. If your dog is new to swimming, she will give instruction on how to introduce him to the pool and build confidence in the water. It is possible that, after the first session, she will recommend additional instruction prior to doing self-swims. She may schedule additional appointments and/or refer you to other instructors who can help. However, most clients are signed off for self-swims after the first session. The intro session is for 90 minutes, of which approximately 30 to 40 minutes will be in the water. Bring your swim suit and prepare to get wet. SELF-SWIM SESSIONSOnly permitted with two people for Safety. If you are not able to bring a partner sign up with Heidi for an assisted swim for a small added fee. Self-swim sessions are available in 20, 30, 40, or 60 minute lengths. Because your appointment includes changing and mop-up time, actual swim times for these sessions are approximately 10, 20, 30, and 50 minutes, respectively. 20 minute sessions are designed primarily for dogs beginning therapy following an injury or surgery. This session allows for approximately 10 minutes in the water - ideal when beginning an exercise program when you need to slowly strengthen unused muscles. 30 or 40 minute sessions are usually best suited for exercising a single dog who is capable of 20 to 30 minutes of activity. 60 minute sessions are ideal for clients with more than one dog, or two people sharing pool time. Note: Only one dog at a time is allowed in the pool. THERAPY and MASSAGELicensed therapists are available who will provide services at the Pawz-n-Play pool. You should consult with your veterinarian to determine whether your dog is fit to swim, particularly after surgery.
